Artist Feature Bundle

September’s Artist Feature Bundle is live (with an Art Feeds Makes Membership)! Featuring four artists we love and mini artworks inspired by them. Check ‘em out below!

Artist Nick Cave is well known for his amazing works called Soundsuits. It’s a piece of art that is like a costume. The Soundsuit hides the shape of the person wearing it - hiding gender, race, and class, which lets the person move without judgment. Let’s imagine our own representative of who we are on the inside with this lesson here!

colorful paper seeds (rolls) made of tissue paper on a pice of cardboard

South Korean artist Ilwha Kim uses hand dyed + cut paper to create color, pattern and texture. Each rolled grouping of paper she names a “seed” because it contains so much! We’ll be doing our own interpretation of her unique work with this project.

colorful egg carton face with art supplies

We love Nelson Makamo’s work! He’s a South African artist who creates portraits of children that show their vibrance, wonder and joy with line and color. Together we’ll make 3D sculptures out of egg cartons using Makamo as our source of inspiration with bold, bright lines, texture and energetic colors for this project in Art Feeds Online!

cardboard mini rothko artwork

Let’s make our own Mini Rothko using recycled materials! The American Artist Mark Rothko liked to paint pictures with lots of colors. He thought that using color was the perfect way to express emotion. He came up with a new art form called Colorfield – that looks a lot like a field of color! We’ll explore our own color fields today as we create a Mini Rothko.

All four lessons are available to Art Feeds Makes Members to Art Feeds Online! Not a Member? Get started with a 14 day free trial here.
